"Burger Reich Barbarossa" is really quite apt, in that the interests pushing the war thought it would be over on a negligible timeline, and then found that they couldn't back out without taking unacceptable humiliation once they realized that wasn't the case. After that point, the Germans basically switched into Plan Truster mode where everybody from the highest general downward was praying that Hitler would pull them out of this scrape like he always had before. The parallels between this and the current state of MAGA are quite obvious.
Israel obviously wanted Iran dead, the China 2027 crowd wanted Iran off the to-do list for the China War, and Trump wanted it as his clincher for the midterms, and now they're all throwing good money after bad because they can't admit defeat. Israel doesn't want to be the small dog that barked and got raped by the lion, the China 2027 crowd don't want this to be the moment where their empire/career sputters out and dies, and Trump doesn't want to lose the midterms, and is just generally a very izzat-brained individual who is constitutionally incapable of taking the L.
Would love an episode on the history of the New Atheists and the undermining of Catholicism as a means to manufacture consent for wars in the Middle East
Ive been in active duty military and reserve for over a decade. What he has said is largely true. Lol that dod money isnt making its way down. Ill say that.
Excited for the new spin-off cooking podcast “What’s in Angela’s second freezer?”
I'm seriously moving back to Montreal, at least us Québécois know how to take care of each other
I just read that Canada will be one of the most insulated countries from the crisis, so there you go.
Really? Im not sure but there are at least a few remnants of a social net which are completely absent in the US. At least where I live.
I think it’s because of oil and gas access or routes or something like that.
The term Malcolm was thinking of was Anton's 'celebration parallax.'
Won’t the U.S. use nukes on Iran before admitting humiliation? And isn’t it possible that is the scenario the Israelis have carefully set up?
Very possible
:(
your and Malcom's conversation had such a lovely moment about the real power of universalism
was a nice feel good moment to hear in a feel bad time
