I took a chance on a show recently, The Terror from 2018, knowing nothing about it except that it starred the excellent Ciarán Hinds, famous for his portrayal of Caesar in HBO’s Rome. We may no longer be at the peak of television drama, but something genuinely excellent occasionally makes it through. I only make recommendations here when I find something extraordinary, so trust me, if you haven’t seen it, this is one of those cases. While it is a creative dramatization with supernatural elements, I discovered only after I finished the series that it was based on actual events and real people.
