Stephanie Kelton and Thomas Fazi on inflation
The American economic analyst Stephanie Kelton and the Italian Thomas Fazi give a different perspective on inflation to most of what you will read this week.
Kelton argues for expanding the fed’s toolkit here in a piece called Inflation - Whodunit and what to do about it.
Fazi argues for regulating excessive speculation in energy and commodity markets among other things here at Unherd.
Style in film: Elizabeth Taylor in Suddenly, Last Summer
Because it’s summer, I was thinking of the most beautiful swimwear ever captured on camera and to me it is in this famous scene from Suddenly Last Summer with Elizabeth Taylor.
I went looking around and found this interesting piece about the costume design in the film. It really was the pinnacle of fashion in cinema.
James Morrison (1932-2020)
Conrad Landin reviews the work of Scottish landscape artist James Morrison in Apollo magazine here.
You can also watch Eye of the Storm, a documentary on him. This is just the trailer.
No actress has ever matched Elizabeth Taylor for a career of scope and beauty.
Angela, by any random chance, have you seen the 8 min or so blip on Turner Classic Movie channel about Hollywood's history on fashion designers and their impact on movies? Great stuff. Suddenly Last Summer was a powerful story. It's not often you see Elizabeth in a movie that deals, however obliquely, with cannibalism!
